THOMPSON

Mr. Kelvin Dewayne Thompson, 40, of 4795 Lennox Road entered into peaceful and eternal rest Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, in Sparta. Kelvin was born to Lester and Yvonne Thompson July 6, 1961, in Winston-Salem. He graduated from East Forsyth High School in 1979. He attended N.C. A&T State University in Greensboro to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering. He was a Baptist by faith and was active during his youth at Goodwill Baptist Church in Arcadia Community, Clemmons. Kelvin was employed at Highland Industries in Kernersville as a mechanical technician. Preceding him in death are his paternal grandparents, Clarksey and Pauline Thompson; and his maternal grandparents, Roscoe and Velnie Jessup. Cherishing his memories are his mother and father, Deacon Lester C. and Yvonne Thompson; his two sons, Stevyn and Sterling Thompson Dilworth (their mother, Arnetta Dilworth) of Greensboro; a former wife, Kyle Spencer; a sister, Karen Thompson Williams, M.D. (James) of Newport News, Va.; a niece, Savannah Mae Williams; aunts and uncles, Marilyn Hopkins (Roosevelt), Emma T. Rice, Clyde Thompson (Earline), Vecolia J. Caldwell (Hubert, deceased), James Ellsworth Jessup (Rae), JoAnne J. Falls (Monroe), Bennie Jessup (James King), Delane J. Johnson (the Rev. Derioux); and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, at the Goodwill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Philemon Samuels officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2001, at the Russell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Goodwill Baptist Church Building Fund, Attn: Laticia Coleman, director of church finances, Goodwill Baptist Church, P.O. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, at Goodwill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Philemon Samuels officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
